Rolls-Royce La Jolla | Reggie Bush Charity Weekend
In 2015 NFL Football Star and Philanthropist Reggie Bush started a fun and interactive way to raise money for not only charities close to his heart, but in the city he grew up in. The Reggie Bush Charity Weekend was created, and each year has grown in not only popularity but in how much has been raised. As we did last year, O’Gara Coach La Jolla and Rolls-Royce La Jolla stepped in and sponsored the four days worth of fun and events. Below is a recap of the weekend’s highlights.
To start we want to recognize the Charities Reggie chose to support this year. They were the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and the Birthday Party Project.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Everything we do is centered on our mission: Finding cures. Saving children.® And families never receive a bill from St. Jude. We pay for treatment, travel, housing, and food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child life.
The Birthday Party Project’s mission is to bring JOY to Homeless Children through the MAGIC of Birthdays! The organization hosts monthly birthday parties at homeless and transitional living agencies across the country. Currently, TBPP celebrates in 10 cities across the country. They believe children everywhere should be celebrated and feel valued, especially during times of trauma or crisis. Since 2012, The Birthday Party Project has celebrated more than 2,100 birthdays with over 19,000 kids in attendance with the help of over 6,000 birthday enthusiasts. Their celebrations are more than just a party. They are a loud exclamation point that kids matter.
The kickoff event for this epic charity weekend started (and ended) at the hottest new hotel in San Diego, The Pendry. The first event was a Celebrity Dinner hosted at the Pendry’s fantastic new restaurant, Provisional. Guests were treated to an amazing meal and rubbed shoulders with NFL greats and TV and Film stars.
Playing football with your idols…
On Friday morning Reggie hosted his Football Skills camp at Helix High School where he played football. The camp gave boys and girls ranging from ages 6 to 15 the chance to learn from the best. With players like Calvin Johnson, Joique Bell and Mercedes Lewis just to name a few, in attendance, the kids were beyond excited to line up against some of best players to ever play the game.
Now let’s go to the pool…
Giving the players and guests a night to relax, Friday evening Reggie hosted a party at the Pendry’s Pool House. Keeping things fun and casual was a great way for guests to mingle and get to know the ballers who were attending the weekend’s festivities.
On Saturday morning, in what could be called the main event of the weekend, the Celebrity Golf Tournament had arrived. With close to 100 players in attendance at the famed Del Mar Country Club, plenty of guests had a chance to win the biggest prize of the weekend. The hole in one car was a Rolls-Royce Ghost, provided by Rolls-Royce La Jolla. With something fun on almost every hole, participants were able to really enjoy themselves.
Sunday afternoon was the final event of the epic weekend. A FIFA video game tournament held at the Pendy’s exciting new nightclub, Oxford Social Club. This gave young fans and gamers the chance to play against professional football players and even the playing field. The event was open to the public and free to participate. There were amazing prizes given out by some of the sponsors like SUBPAC and a delicious buffet to keep the players fueled up.
